How to spend a short holiday in Chile?

Holidays or days off are what everyone always thinks about. Chileans work 9 hours per day (45 hours per week) so they use every single opportunity to travel around the country or even abroad. If you stay in Chile, there is no need to leave the country at all, because Chile is one of the very rare places where you can see all parts of the nature, i.e. mountains, volcanoes, rainforests, desert, ocean, penguins, islands, peninsulas, dolphins, geysers, glaciers. Even though Chile is 4300km long, it is only a 350km wide country which is excellent for short trips as places are accessible in only 1 to 3 hours from east to west by car or by bus. Expats, travelers and Chileans use this advantage to run away from Santiago. We also did the same for the last holiday.
My friend and I wanted to visit one of the very attractive destinations called Cajon del Maipo. There are many organized tours and one-day trips to this place from Santiago because it is not very far to the east. They usually cost around $100 which is why we tried to find a bus and to go there on our own. And there is a bus which takes you to the town San Jose del Maipo for only 1000clp (around $15). It was an easy, fast and safe ride and after less than an hour we got off the bus and looked for the local means of transportation to Cajon del Maipo. However, people told us that it’s not possible to get there by any bus or taxi, but only by your own car or with a tourist group. Then it was quite logical why this one-day trip costs $100 :) In the end, we took a taxi which actually drove us to Cascada de las Animas. My friend told me that it is a nice place, so we stayed there for the whole afternoon and evening. They offer a walking tour to the waterfalls through the beautiful nature of the Andes. It was a very sunny and warm day and the only thing you can do there is to relax and enjoy wonderful and peaceful environment of plants, flowers, wood and a river. You can also have lunch in a gorgeous wooden restaurant while listening to the murmur of the river. Beside the walking tour, there are also possibilities for rafting and canopy.
Now take a look at wonderful pictures and you can also find the video on my YouTube channel. Enjoy :)
